So perhaps it comes as no surprise to learn Bruce Willis met his new wife Emma Heming in the same way.
According to reports, Bruce 'hand-picked' female extras from a host of models for his 2007 film The Perfect Stranger... one of them being his bride Emma, who he married on Saturday.
Newlyweds: Bruce Willis 'handpicked' his new wife Emma Heming to star in Perfect Stranger
A source told the New York Post that Bruce took a great interest in casting the minor female roles in the thriller, which he starred in alongside Halle Berry.
A film insider told the paper's Page Six column: 'During the casting of Perfect Stranger, Bruce was very involved with the casting. In fact, you could say he was extremely involved no matter how minor the role.'
Casting agents put in phonecalls to modelling agencies for potential castmembers and English model Emma turned up to audition.
The source continues: 'He personally went through head shots and when the girls were called in to 'read,' he was there in the meeting.
Hands-on: Bruce met Emma during the audition process for Perfect Stranger, which he starred in alongside Halle Berry
It was odd for the star of a movie to do so, but at the time he was single and I guess he needed a date.
'He started dating [model] Tamara Feldman with whom he coincidentally enough had a sex scene.'
The source said Emma was also selected for the small speaking part of Donna.
The insider said: 'He started dating both Tamara and Emma but obviously, Emma eventually won out.'
Although pictured holidaying with Tamara in Italy in summer 2007, by the end of the year he was frequently photographed with Maltese-born Emma.
Bruce, 54, and Emma, 30, married at the actor's home in the Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos on Saturday.
Among the guests at the intimate ceremony were his three children Rumer, 20, Scout, 17, and Tallulah Belle, 14, Bruce's ex-wife Demi Moore and her husband Ashton Kutcher.
Bruce and Demi split in 2000 after 13 years of marriage and have remained close friends.
