Madonna fuels romance rumours after dinner date with Brazilian model

They haven't been photographed together for over a month, but this picture of Madonna and Brazilian model Jesus Luz will fuel speculation of a romance.

The singer, 50, left a restaurant with the 22-year-old in New York yesterday.

The couple ate at the Marcelleria Italian steakhouse in Manhattan's trendy meatpacking district, before Madonna took her children Lourdes, David and Rocco for a shopping trip.

Their lunch date came a day after Madonna was seen enjoying a family day out with ex-husband Guy Ritchie

While Madonna was wrapped up for the cold winter day, which saw temperatures dip as a low as -4C, Luz appeared oblivious to the chill as he walked with his shirt open.

As well as Jesus, Madonna's next most stylish accessory was her £960 bright red, Stephen Sprouse Tribute Collection 'Speedy' handbag by Louis Vuitton.

Their lunch date follows reports that Jesus flew to London to celebrate his 22nd birthday with Madonna.

They were first photographed in December, but appeared to be standing deliberately apart, after another dinner date in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

After you: Gentlemanly Jesus follows Madonna into their chauffeur-driven car

Madonna met Jesus in December on a photoshoot with celebrated photographer Steven Klein for American magazine W.

In the raunchy pictorial, a smartly dressed Madonna pulls topless Jesus towards her in an intimate pose.

Madonna was apparently so enamoured with the handsome Latino, she asked him to accompany her for the remainder of the South America leg of her Sticky & Sweet Tour.

Since being linked to Madonna, it's perhaps no surprise Jesus's modelling career has been given a huge boost.

His former agent Sergios Mattos, who runs 40 Graus Models, told the New York Post that Jesus stopped taking his calls after meeting Madonna and has now signed to the more high-profile Ford Models.

Mattos told Brazilian website Glamurama.com.br: 'He stopped answering his phone, his mother quit her job... But I wish him the best.

'And now I have a new Jesus [Spanish model Jesus Perez]. This is a much better Jesus, and he's not a fan of Madonna's.'

A source close to model also told Glamurama Jesus had raised his modelling rates since meeting Madonna.

The source said: 'He was asking for some $135,000 a show. He did the same job last year for a mere $225.

'A lot of people are contacting him but because he keeps raising his rates, they are changing their minds.'

Jesus is the second man to be linked to Madonna since she split from her now ex-husband Guy Ritchie in October.

Madonna denied reports last year she was involved with New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, who divorced his wife Cynthia last summer.

Madonna donated staggering £2million to Kabbalah groups

Spiritual advice for Madonna hasn't come cheap - she handed over close to £2m to the Kabbalah religious group in one year alone.

Tax filings for her charitable foundation, called Ray of Light Foundation, revealed a total of £1.75m was given to the Kabbalah Centre of Los Angeles.

A further £2,600 was given to an offshoot of the group, Spirituality for Kids. The money is believed to have paid for books and other items to be used in schools.

Huge donations: Madonna and adopted son David Banda arrive at the Kabbalah Centre in New York last month; Madonna donated nearly £2million to the religion in one year

The figures are contained in the 2007 tax filings to the US taxman for her Ray of Light Foundation.

According to reports in the US while Kabbalah benefited from her generosity no money was given to her other main charity, Raising Malawi.

Despite adopting a son David from the impoverished African country Madonna, 50, did not make any charitable donations to groups working in the country.

Madonna's other sizeable charity donations include £200,000 to the Mobilization Against AIDS charity and £10,000 to the TJ Martell Foundation for Cancer Research.

The singer has a £300m fortune and ticket sales from her last tour grossed over £60m.

Close to her heart: Madonna shows her devotion to Kabbalah with a quirky t-shirt

Having divorced husband Guy Ritchie after four years of marriage she is reported to be giving him a cash lump sum of £12m.

Ritchie will keep their 1,200 acre Ashcombe House country estate in Wiltshire which is worth £20 million.

The film director will also keep his £3 million Punchbowl pub in London.

In one of the biggest celebrity break-ups of 2008 the singer petitioned for divorce on the grounds of 40-year-old Ritchie's 'unreasonable behaviour'.

The couple were granted a 'quickie divorce' at London's High Court in December.

The couple will share custody of their sons, Rocco, eight, and three-year-old adopted David. Madonna's 12-year-old daughter Lourdes, from a previous relationship, is expected to live in America with her mother.

Madonna and Ritchie were briefly reunited over Christmas for a service at the London Kabbalah Centre.

But they left in separate cars and Madonna had dinner with close friend Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin.

Madonna forgets to wax her top lip

At the U.S. premiere of her new film Filth & Wisdom, Madonna managed to shock, yet again, with a pair of gun-toting high heels.

Fortunately for the singer, her controversial shoes managed to distract from two style faux pas - her slightly hairy top lip and dark roots.

Wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana belted shift dress and Chanel stilettos, Madonna looked chic but professional at the screening of her directorial debut.

However, the 50-year-old's usual preened appearance was slightly let down by the darkened area just above her top lip, which she had apparently forgotten to wax or bleach.

Madonna

Under the microscope: Madonna's unsightly facial hair

The pop star also appeared to be a few weeks behind in topping up her bleach blonde roots at the hairdressers.

Madonna's premiere was going swimmingly for the Material Girl on Monday night. A host of A-list stars turned up, including Naomi Watts, Jessica Alba, Brooke Shields and Lindsay Lohan.

While the perfectionist Madonna would agree the night appeared to go well, she could not have been prepared for the unflattering close-up of her facial flaws - or the controversy over her stilettos.

Anti-violence groups have accused the singer of glamorising violence during a time when her adopted home of Britain is facing a dramatic rise in youths dying in shootings or stabbings.

Dee Edwards, co-founder of the charity Mothers Against Murder and Aggression said: 'I am utterly disgusted by this.

'It is not fashion, it is not style, it is an advert glorifying guns and making them seem acceptable.

'Kids are dying every day from gun and knife crime. I would like to see her walk into a mortuary or a hospital wearing those shoes to see a young child whose life has been ripped from him by guns.

'I would like to see her claim it as a fashion statement then.'

The 'offensive' footwear is not even on sale yet and will appear in stores in Chanel's 2009 Spring collection.

A Chanel representative said there is a huge waiting list for the shoes, which are expected to sell for $2,200 a pair.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie look set for custody battle after her 'emotional retard' jibe

Madonna and Guy Ritchie look set for an acrimonious divorce as they face a bitter battle over where their children will be raised.

Between them the couple are worth more than £300million, but rather than the cash, children Lourdes, Rocco and David are said to be the main area of contention.

The singer is believed to want to raise her three children in New York. But Guy has set his sights on them growing up in London and Wiltshire and is upset about them being on the other side of the Atlantic.

A source said: 'Madonna wants them to be brought up in the cosmopolitan environment of New York.
Madonna

Fight for their kids: Madonna and Guy, here with children Lourdes and Rocco, are said to be facing up to a bitter custody battle

'Guy wants them to continue growing up in London and Wiltshire, being privately educated in Britain.

'This has been the major stumbling block as to why their lawyers have not been able to negotiate an out-of-court settlement.'

The source said that Ritchie's parents, John Ritchie and Amber, Ladly Leighton - who are now divorced - are also distraught at the idea of Madonna having the children on the other side of the Atlantic.

'Amber, who was adopted herself, is furious that Guy and Madonna have not been able to settle their differences for the sake of the children,' the source added.

'Guy is really upset that his parents may be prevented from seeing Rocco. Rocco is Guy's beloved little boy.
Madonna

The show must go on: After announcing her divorce, Madonna returned to doing what she does best after announcing the split - performing on stage in Boston

The signs that the divorce was heading towards acrimony couldn't have been clearer yesterday as the singer made a very thinly-veiled attack on Guy Ritchie for being 'emotionally retarded' live on stage.

Performing in Boston a few hours after their break-up was announced, she told the audience: 'This song is for the emotionally retarded. Maybe you know some people who fall into that category. I know I do.'

The song she then performed was Miles Away, inspired, she once said, by her often long-distance relationship with Ritchie.

She also opened the show, which took place just hours after her spokesperson confirmed the split, with her track I'm Not Sorry, telling the 20,000-strong crowd: 'That's right, I'm not sorry.'

'They do everything together. He adores him. He wants him to be a Londoner.

'The idea that he will be across the Atlantic from him most of the time is really tearing him apart.

'Guy is really frustrated that Madonna is building a legal case on her being this earth mother-style primary carer who looks after the children most of the time.'
Madonna

Broken man: Guy Ritchie cut a folorn figure on the set of Sherlock Holmes in London yesterday

'They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time. A final settlement has not been agreed upon yet.'

Madonna had been sending Guy messages their marriage was over months ago when she began moving some of their art collection, including a Dali and portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte by Jacques-Louis David from their London home to their New York residence.

The singer is understood to have already offered Ritchie their country estate Ashcombe House, which is worth some £12million, plus a lump sum of as little as £15million.

Legal experts estimate that he could fight for up to £75million, comprising half the estimated £80million they have earned between them over their ten-year relationship, a further regular maintenance payout and properties.

Such an amount would dwarf Britain's largest divorce settlement so far of £48million, paid by insurance magnate John Charman to wife Beverley in 2006.

The gig at the city's Banknorth Garden was the 23rd concert of the Sticky & Sweet World Tour, which started in Cardiff in August and is expected to end in December.

Madonna cryptically announced to a New York concert audience on October 6: 'In exactly 29 moves, the Queen will dump the King.' She then had 29 more dates on her U.S. tour.

But in the light of the announcement, it seems she simply could not wait that long.

The couple are now lining up for what could become the costliest divorce in British legal history.
Madonna

Sombre: Madonna returning to her New York apartment on Tuesday night hours before the announcement

Madonna, who has an estimated personal fortune of £275million, has already lined up a fearsome legal team including the so-called 'Steel Magnolia' Fiona Shackleton and Nicholas Mostyn QC, the lawyers Sir Paul McCartney employed for his vicious two-year divorce battle with Heather Mills.

However friends of Ritchie's argue that, after a combative marriage, we can expect a peaceful divorce. Those hoping for a high-profile spat will be disappointed, they say.

In recent months, Madonna has grown close to Lourdes's father Carlos Leon.

Personal trainer Leon has been overseeing renovations on the singer's New York apartment.

He was adamant Madonna and Ritchie's split should not affect Lourdes's 12th birthday on Tuesday.

The Mail has learned that Madonna and Ritchie called time on their marriage after months of arguing over a wide range of issues.

The rows culminated in an almighty fall-out last Friday in which the singer gave her husband an ultimatum to move from London to New York with her. Ritchie, 40, reacted furiously and refused to relocate - sealing their fate.

It was the tipping point in a long battle which has seen them become increasingly alienated, to the point where they were communicating through their PAs.

Cracks in the marriage were apparent in June, when they attended marriage counselling with Kabbalah elders near their home in London. They emerged with a plan they hoped would save their marriage.

Both pledged to reduce their work schedules and not to be apart for more than a week at a time. They also pledged to support one another's interests and when necessary, career choices.

Ritchie had reportedly become increasingly disillusioned with the Kabbalah - a mystical offshoot of Judaism, which Madonna has followed since 1997.

In the end, it was Madonna's plan that the family should move to America which sealed their fate.

One well-placed source said: 'Madonna told him that she had tired of Britain and the British press who had crucified her over the adoption of David Banda.'

By that time, she had already been spending increasing amounts of time in New York - and that brought its own dangers.

There have been rumours of her growing closeness to the U.S. baseball player Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod), and she has been spotted dining with him recently in New York.

'Madonna has a growing closeness with A-Rod. It's nothing sexual, it's what you might call a non-physical affair,' the source said. 'But the point is that Madonna clearly feels A-Rod nourishes her in some way that Guy cannot.'

Perhaps worst of all, the couple have not shared a bed in almost a year, the source claims.

Significantly, the couple are already getting on with their different lives in Britain and America.

Yesterday, while Guy was directing his latest film, about Sherlock Holmes, at a closed studio in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, while Madonna performed a concert in Boston as part of her current world tour.

Madonna borrows little Lourdes' geeky style as tour rolls into NYC

At 50, Madonna appears more eager than ever to prove she's still down with the kids.

The pop star is now apparently taking style cues from her daughter Lourdes, emerging on stage in New York last night wearing her oversized black-framed specs.

Lourdes, who at just 11 already has her own distinct fashion style, was spotted wearing the pair earlier this year before her mother managed to get her clutches on them.

Madonna's performance last night was the first of three sold-out nights in Madison Square Garden on her Sticky & Sweet world tour.

She powered through the 23-song set which chronicled her stellar career, from '80s hits to songs from this year's release Hard Candy.

This, her seventh tour, has proved incredibly profitable for the star, who has already raked in $120 million.

Madonna's muscles look more fearsome than ever as she makes another Kabbalah visit

Revealing biceps of gladiatorial proportions, Madonna cut a fearsome figure yesterday as she made her third visit to a New York Kabbalah centre in as many days.

All eyes were on the 50-year-old star, who is famous for enduring two-hour gym sessions, six days a week, as she emerged looking more muscly than ever.

The singer didn't flinch as she flung her 2-year-old son David onto her hip as the pair made their exit, her strength barely tested by his sturdy frame.

Madonna has apparently been putting toddler David through his religious paces in recent days and the pair have become a fixture at the New York centre since their arrival in the city last week.

Madonna made no secret of her plans to raise her youngest son as a follower of Kabbalah when she first took over as his carer, but insists he is free to be a Christian like his biological father when he's older.

Meanwhile, husband Guy Ritchie appears to be having more fun across the Atlantic, last night rubbing shoulders with Rachel McAdams and Robert Downey Jr at a photocall for his film Sherlock Holmes.

Raunchier than ever...Madonna on stage at 50

She is claimed to have spent more than 650 hours in rehearsal for her world tour.

But on the opening night, it was the time Madonna had spent pumping iron in the gym which had the most dramatic results.

As she gyrated in Cardiff on Saturday, the Queen of Pop's raunchy stage outfits showed off her bulging thighs and biceps.

Fans paid up to £160 for tickets to Madonna's first world tour since Confessions in 2004, although the Millennium Stadium was far from full.
Madonna

Madonna kicks off her highly anticipated Sticky & Sweet Tour promoting Number One album Hard Candy at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff

They also had to show patience, with the show starting more than 90 minutes later than billed. So was it all worth it?

The last time Madonna played in Cardiff, she opened her Confessions tour by arriving on stage in horse-riding gear.

She then spent the evening turning the Millennium Stadium into the world's biggest disco and causing controversy by posing on a crucifix wearing a crown of thorns.

Two years on, the opening sequences of her Sticky&Sweet tour were even more spectacular.

Amid a dizzying barrage of computerised graphics, the Queen of Pop, in leather boots and figure-hugging pants, greeted her Welsh subjects by sitting imperiously on a futuristic black throne.

She then underwent eight costume changes which saw her return to the stage as a pole-dancing, break- dancing cheerleader and later as a gipsy singer with a travelling band of minstrels.

Madonna

Cheeky: Madonna teases the crowd

Nobody does a big stadium show quite like Madonna. She might be pop's greatest female icon, but she does not rest on her laurels and this was a theatrical, two-hour blockbuster, featuring 16 dancers and a 12-piece band.

This time, too, there was no need to resort to any shock tactics. If any of the 40,000 crowd had come along expecting any off-piste, Amy Winehouse moments, they would have gone home disappointed.

Madonna doesn't do spontaneity.

She is pop's consummate professional and the 653 hours of rehearsals which apparently went into this tour were evident in some choreographed routines which were nothing short of breathtaking.
Madonna

Remarkable: Madonna made rubber-limbed gyrations - despite turning 50

The fact that the singer turned 50 earlier this month made her rubber-limbed gyrations all the more remarkable.

If the Confessions tour was a no-holds-barred journey out on to the dance floor, the current show is more diverse.

Perhaps keen to reinforce her musical legacy there are more crowd-pleasing older hits, with Into the Groove, Like a Prayer, Vogue and Borderline all featuring.

Even You Must Love Me, from Evita, gets an airing. Accompanied by just an acoustic guitar, it was forcefully sung and provided one of the night's more intimate moments.

With Madonna regularly strapping on a black guitar and bashing out some crisp but rudimentary power chords, the overall mood was more rock-orientated than previous tours.

For Madonna, a born actress, a musical instrument is the perfect prop and she struck plenty of guitarheroine poses.

Hung Up, originally a homage to Abba, began like the White Stripes on a bad night, but progressed towards a slick finale with Madonna miming the smoking of a cigarette while leaning nonchalantly against a speaker.

The high point was a vibrant La Isla Bonita, sung gipsy-style in a colourful throwback to Madonna's appearance at last year's Live Earth concert at Wembley.

The garbled video montage which accompanied Get Stupid was less coherent.

With the singer off-stage for a costume change, the two giant screens either side of the stage showed footage from war zones alongside images of John Lennon, Nelson Mandela, and, finally, U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

With the latter's face lingering on screen, we can take it that Madge will not be voting for John McCain.

The predominantly female audience, many in pink cowboy hats, had not come for guidance on American politics, however. They had come to party.

Their spirits were soon roused by a sassy 4 Minutes, with Justin Timberlake duetting via a pre-recorded video.

As is usually the case with Madonna, the asides to the audience were kept to a minimum. After an introductory 'All right, Cardiff?' nothing was said between songs near its end.

Then, after initially asking for requests from the floor, the singer snapped back: 'I'm in charge. I choose the songs.'

It might have been better had she kept her mouth closed. After such an exhilarating show her comments, while jokey, seemed a little inappropriate.

That said, on this kind of form she remains the show woman all the others still have to beat.

Madonna and Guy give their marriage a faith lift by renewing their vows

Madonna and Guy Ritchie made a last-ditch attempt to save their troubled marriage by renewing their wedding vows at a private kabbalah ceremony in London, I can report.

Madonna, who was 50 last weekend, is understood to have flown her kabbalah teacher over from Los Angeles to conduct the proceedings.

‘It was very intimate and both Guy and Madonna made vows to each other and pledged to try to make their marriage strong again,’ says my source.

Radiant Madonna celebrates her 50th birthday at a London nightclub with husband Guy by her side

Madonna celebrated her 50th birthday in style last night as she attended a party thrown in her honour with husband Guy Ritchie.

The couple were all smiles as they arrived at the Volstead club in London's West End.

Protective Guy held onto his wife's arms as they headed into the venue.

Madonna - wearing thigh boots, a partially transparent chiffon dress and her Kabbalah bracelet - looked positively radiant as she smiled for photographers.

The night before the couple had attended a service at a Kabbalah centre in Marylebone.

Perhaps the Queen of Pop was giving thanks for her glittering career or maybe she was praying for Mercy, the little girl whom she is hoping to adopt from Malawi.

Earlier this week the Mail learned that Ritchie, keen to give his wife the ultimate birthday gift, has given in to her demands to adopt a second Malawian child.

Many of the marital difficulties the couple have experienced over the past year have surrounded the singer's determination to adopt again, and Guy's refusal to give in.

Yet rather than lose his wife for good, the Snatch director has agreed to go ahead with adopting three-year-old Mercy James. Madonna and Ritchie have already adopted Malawian child David Banda and the singer has two other children, a son, Rocco, and a daughter Lourdes.

According to Guinness World Records, Madonna is the most successful female solo artist, selling around 120 million albums and 40 million singles - a combined total of more than any other female.
Madonna
Long live the Queen: Madonna dominated pop music in the Eighties and Nineties and her various, now iconic, looks launched a thousand copycat styles

In the Eighties she was the peroxide punky rebel that sang about virginal sex, materialism and having illegitimate children.

Although she wasn't the most beautiful singer around, she oozed raw sex appeal, a powerful asset that she harnessed throughout her various images in the Nineties from the iconic coned corset on her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990 to her raunchy Sex book and video.

In the Naughties she continued to court controversy with her 'lesbian' kiss with Britney Spears and more recently with her adoption of David Banda.

And despite turning 50, it doesn't look like she's planning on slowing down anytime soon. The pop star, who is renowned for her super-fit and yoga-toned body, is preparing for her Sticky And Sweet world tour.

To mark her special day, MSN entertainment polled more than 1,200 Madge fans who named Like A Prayer as her best song of all time. The album of the same name also topped the poll as Madonna's best.

Madonna sprains her ankle, placing landmark 50th birthday bash 'in doubt'

It's a milestone most women don't look forward to - the half century.

Now it appears Madonna may have a good reason to postpone the planned celebrations for her 50th birthday party on Saturday.

The singer has sprained her left ankle and was pictured in New York at the weekend with it heavily bandaged.
Madonna

Strain: The heavy bandage on Madonna's left ankle is clearly visible

Madonna had planned to host a lavish do for around 50 select guests at her country estate in Wiltshire, but she is now set to push back her party by nearly two weeks, according to the Daily Mirror.

A close friend of the Material Girl and her husband Guy Ritchie told the paper that the singer had been stressed out by rehearsals of her forthcoming Sticky And Sweet tour and the sprain was a sign that she should take it easy and postpone the 'formal birthday bash'.

Madonna

Strapped: It is not known how Madonna sprained her ankle

The friend said: 'Madonna now reckons it'll go ahead during a three-day break in the tour towards the end of the month, not next weekend.

'Guy wants it to be traditional and British. He has already ordered crate-loads of real ales.

'He's also arranged for a folk band to play and the people invited are all pretty old school - Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney and Trudie Styler - basically friends Madonna's known for years.

'Everyone else will be immediate friends and family, plus a few people from Malawi that Madonna will be flying out.'
Madonna

It's been a bad few days for the A-list couple - last week their £2.5million London pub in Mayfair was accused of charging non-regulars more for a pint.

The two-tier pricing system is one of several alleged breaches at the Punch Bowl being investigated by local authorities.

Women have liposuction on their shoulders for the 'Keira look'

You've had your face lifted, your boobs enlarged and your tummy tucked, but money is still burning a hole in your designer clutch bag.

So where do you go next for cosmetic surgery? The answer, it seems, is your shoulders.

Surgeons in New York have reported a rise in the number of women undergoing shoulder liposuction in the hope of looking like slender stars such as Keira Knightley and Madonna.
keira Knightley

Keira Knightley's off-the-shoulder gown inspires off-the-shoulder surgery

They say women have started asking for fat to be stripped from their shoulder areas to give them a more toned and sinewy appearance.

And they predict it is only a matter of time before the craze arrives in the UK.

Dr Douglas Steinbrech, a plastic surgeon based in Manhattan, said a growing number of clients from the UK are now asking for the procedure.

It costs between £2,000 and £5,000 a time, and works by injecting the shoulder area with a local anaesthetic.

Incisions no wider than five millimetres are made in the natural creases and shadows of the shoulders. The fat is then vacuumed out with curved suction wands.

Some surgeons use laser treatments to break up and melt the fat cells before sucking them out.

Madonna

Madonna leaves the gym after another workout: Her figure is said to have influenced women to have shoulder liposuction

Many of my patients are now requesting shoulders like Madonna and Keira Knightley,' said Dr Steinbrech.

'This procedure is for people who are usually already in great shape and are very trim.

They maybe go to the gym three or five days a week but there are a few areas that the gym can't reach, such as their shoulders, knees and ankles. It is not a procedure I perform on obese women.'

Dr Steinbrech said shoulder liposuction is relatively pain-free and patients can return to work after a few days.

'I often perform the operation on a Thursday or Friday and they recover all weekend with anti-inflammatories and painkillers and go back to work on Monday,' he said.

'Around 80 per cent of the swelling goes down within two weeks and the bruising disappears within ten days.'

Barbara Jemec, consultant plastic surgeon at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, said: 'I hope we don't see shoulder liposuction over here.

'It sounds a bit extreme. There are other places where fat is much more visible on women's bodies and shoulders can scar easily.

'The likes of Keira Knightley and Madonna have skinny shoulders because they are skinny all over. I think in this country we are moving away from women having to be stick-thin. A woman who looks normal and healthy is much better.'

His 'n' her counsellors for Guy and Madonna

With rumours again rife that Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s marriage is on the rocks, I hear the couple have turned to the Kabbalah to help them through their latest problems.

They have been having private ‘teachings’ at their local centre in Oxford Street, London, every Friday night.

Perhaps appropriately for a couple who by all accounts lead separate lives, they have separate teachers, but for the past month they have been meeting together for prayers and blessings.
Madonna

Madonna, 49, and Guy Ritchie, 10 years her junior, are said to row about everything

They are having counselling, which everyone who goes to the Kabbalah has,' says my source.

'We call them teachings and Guy takes them very seriously, but for a while Madonna stopped going.

‘Guy would go to meetings with the children on Friday nights, then Madonna would turn up for the dinner.

‘For the past few weeks, though, she has been going for prayers. She and Guy have had joint blessings by her rabbi Eitan Yardeni who has been her teacher for many years.

Guy has another teacher called Marcus Weston who has been really supportive. It really hasn’t been an easy time in the Ritchie household.’

Guy was pictured last week on a night out with male friends and sources say he and Madonna, who turns 50 and embarks on a world tour later this year, plan to spend most of the summer apart.

‘Madonna leaves for New York in a couple of days and will be staying at her recently extended and refurbished apartment.

She is taking her kids and her entourage, not Guy, although he may well fly out for appearances’ sake.

‘He just wants to be in London preparing for the release of his movie RocknRolla and spending some time with his friends.’

Meanwhile, I’m told the couple’s celebrity friends have also stepped in to help keep the Ritchies on track.

‘Gwyneth Paltrow has been to the Kabbalah dinners with Madonna – and Sting and Trudie, who introduced them, have been on the phone all the time,’ adds my spy.

The Incredible Bulk: 'Muscles' Madonna shows off her even beefier biceps

Madonna has been working out for two hours, six days a week - and boy does it show.

The pop star unveiled biceps of comic-book proportions as she left the gym following her latest vigorous fitness session in London today.

Dressed in adidas tracksuit pants, a tight Nike vest and a hooded jacket hanging over her head, it was her bulging muscles that really had heads turning.

Bulky: the pop star flexed her muscle after yet another two hour work out in London today

Madonna, who is famous for her punishing exercise regime, was joined by her pint-sized personal trainer and constant gym companion Tracy Anderson, whom she was referred to by best friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Of the star, Tracy will say only: "It comes down to whether or not you are a hard worker and someone who puts in 100 per cent.

"I prefer to train with the dedicated and these women aren't afraid to work."

With her 50th birthday less than five months away, Madonna seems more determined than ever to be in great shape, but her increasingly muscular appearance suggests she may be trying too hard.

Last month there was even speculation the image-concious star had undergone plastic surgery after she was seen with a bruised face and eyes.

The mother of three is currently preparing to embark on a promotional tour for of the release of her new album Hard Candy, which sees her duetting with Justin Timberlake.

Madonna's Adoption Approval

Madonna will be allowed to keep her adopted Malawian son.

The 'Hung Up' singer was visited by the head of Malawi's Social Services earlier this month and has now been given the all-clear to formally adopt two-year-old David Banda.

Simon Chisale spent three days with Madonna, husband Guy Ritchie and her two other children, Lourdes, 10, and seven-year-old Rocco, at the family's London mansion.

Chisale - who was assessing the couple's suitability to adopt David - was particularly impressed with the measures the family has taken to make David feel at home.

He revealed that Madonna and Lourdes speak to David in his native language, Chichewa, and said the little boy had bonded very well with his new family.
According to reports, he told his colleagues: "When I arrived David was playing a card game with Rocco. Madonna told me he understands a bit of Chichewa and she fetched some tourist guide books to Malawi.

"She told me she has Malawian friends who pop in to teach the family Chichewa. She also has a Chichewa translation of her children's book, 'The English Roses'."
